Open Forum – Monday 11/29/2010

Good Morning. Let’s get started. Here is a thought provoking statement going around on facebook:

“You stay up for 16 hrs, he stays up for days on end. You talk about your friends behind their backs, he prays he’ll get to see his friends again. You complain about your food at a restaurant, he mixes up another MRE. You roll your eyes when your baby wakes up crying, he’d do anything just to hold his child again. Stop & think about the men & women who sacrifice so much, just so you can complain freely.”

I am humbled.

This fellow addresses how to answer spiritual questions, as well as breaks down different reasons people ask these questions. Much of what he says in this tutorial is applicable when dealing with progressives and/or the politically brainwashed.

  2. “you must accept the fact that most people are never going to want to know the answer as deeply as you think they ought to. ”
AMEN to that. Half the time while you are making your well reasoned response, they are already forming their next “gotcha” question. You walk away wondering why they don’t get it………..

    • yomotley says:

Yes! That phrase jumped out at me, too. I can actually apply that little tidbit, immediately. (I have a houseful of teenagers). That one little comment is an “ah ha” moment for me.

This one is what I was trying to say to people when I would suggest they try to find the common ground with the other person when discussing drastically different ideaologies:
“…..assume the inquirer has seen something of the truth and build your answer on it.”

What a way for me to start my week! It is gonna be good.

    • The mask is coming off…

The Socialists/Communists and the Jihadists collectively want to bring this nation to its knees. They are literally at war against us.

And the Resident in the White House is on their side.

      • sundancecracker says:

Agreed 100%. The Socialists/Progressives/Liberalists MUST feel this moment is their best multi-generational opportunity to advance beyond the “GATE”. Hence, they are no longer even attempting to hide the agenda behind any vieled smokescreen.

They are right out in the open, in front of God and everybody to see. A time of great consequence is upon us. The hour is here… right now….. not tomorrow… right now! The majority of our side is awake. But we must take the enormity of our masses to the streets and show each brother and sister that we are the majority.

There are more of us than them. We must reflect that in this fight to relegate them to the land of irrelevance once more.

I agree, he should be tried for Treason, and shot if convicted. If an example is made of the PFC, it might deter some other wHoo who gets a wild hair about CLASSIFIED information. How did a PFC get Top Secret Clearance? Any ideas?

        • Patriot Dreamer says:

He’s a military intelligence analyst. What I’d like to know is WHY he had access to all this information when he did not have the need to know. Used to be that you used to have the right kind of clearance PLUS the need to know.

  8. GracieD says:

Good Morning Honeys! Please take a minute and call your Senators and ask them to vote against S 510. This is not a good bill, and will result in even higher food prices….like we really need that. The vote is scheduled for this afternoon. Thanks y’all!!

    • Good afternoon Gracie (and all!) I came to the hive to discuss SB 510…I cannot, for the life of me, understand WHY they are doing this Bill now. Makes me wonder, ok foodsafe tinfoil on, if the egg eColi ‘recall’ wasn’t intentional as a reference point…like WikiLeaks is the clarion ‘call’ for Barky’s Net Neutrality.

I think we are being played.

    • sundancecracker says:

Gracie, thanks for bringing this up. Yes indeed S510 is a horrid end run to capture and control the food supply and expand government. I am hopeful it will be crushed. Additionally, Harry “the manipulator” Reid has pulled a slimeball move and attached the “Earmark Ban” onto this bill.

Yep, that nasty creature of a Senator sonofabitch Harry is playing fuggin’ games with it. He knows the gargantuan S510 food takeover bill is hated by conservatives, so he is using it to make a political posture and cause conservatives to vote against a ban on earmarks… That guy is a creep.

      • Jennifer H says:

More than a creep, far more than that- evil is what I feel when I look at what he has done and is doing even now.

        • sundancecracker says:

An additional ammendment attached to the bill (there are 17 so far) is “To repeal the expansion of information reporting requirements for payments of $600 or more to corporations, and for other purposes.”

This is part of the Obamacare fiasco. Requiring a 1099 tax form for any economic purchase over $600. (hence the 16,000+ irs agents) etc.

Both parties agreed that this ridiculous mandate needed to be repealed. But again, Slimeball Harry has chosen to attach this needed and bi-partisian ammendment, to this uneeded and partisan bill.

See how this evil creep works? Nasty manipulating bastard.

      • Pat P says:

I left one at TheConnection (lucianne.com) on Saturday or Sunday. Do you all think we should continue with general posting?

    • Celestial_Dreamer says:

You may want to add this to things to “call out” Kevin DuJan for.
I was a long time lurker at HB, and what I enjoyed about HB were the comments, not his posts per se.

One thing I noticed, was that his work seems to be a compilation of tidbits from various people he has crossed paths with, in addition to his “lifting” of work from the comments section and making a new post out of it. A recent example is the “Trig – Little Angel” post, lifted whole cloth from a posted comment. No h/t, no attribution, nothing.

Now, here’s another tidbit that y’all missed. YTZ posted here about her son speaking Chinese, and translating some stuff. It was timely, because of the recent troubles with Korea. That “skill” generated a lot of notice and kudos, since Chinese is an extremely hard language to learn and master.

Okay … well, a few days after that post here, Kevin DuJan magically speaks Mandarin Chinese now. Did y’all not catch that? Since, when he went to college, Mandarin Chinese was not the “hot” language to study it is now, the number of schools that offered Mandarin Chinese were very, very few.

      Very few.

So, I would like to know where (what college) Kevin DuJan learned Chinese, what years he studied and who his instructor was. It is really stretching my credibility to believe that when knowing how to speak Chinese is suddenly “cool” , Kevin magically speaks Chinese.

      Check it out …
      http://hillbuzz.org/2010/11/28/question-have-you-ever-asked-people-to-speak-english-in-public/

“I had Mandarin in college and French through high school, and I remember enough of both to talk a few minutes in either, seeming vaguely fluent. I thought the guy was either Japanese or maybe Korean, so I tried talking to him in Mandarin…and he didn’t understand me…so I just pointed at the two of them, laughed loudly, and said about everything I knew in Chinese centered around someone being terrible and/or an animal.”

Just some more crumbs for y’all to chew on.

      • AFinch says:

That is an interesting observation. I will say though that a good friend of mine, who is about 20 years older than KDJ, learned Chinese in college. Of course, he went to the Naval Academy.

      • Jennifer H says:

What a riot- thanks for posting !

        • integrity1st says:

Again, torn between feeling sad or mad about K, I will note that a post of about a week ago (I still get email delivery, and just read the top before hitting delete), clearly stated that from his “thousands of subscribers, hundreds are from oversees”. Wouldn’t it be interesting to know how many subscribers he actually has/had if not only to know how many people need saving? Perhaps Chrissy knows, and if my radar is correct, she will be joining us soon = )

      • yomotley says:

Actually, I would never go up to someone and tell them to stop talking any language. My not being able to understand a conversation may be rude on the part of the conversationalists but, that does not negate their right to speak and say whatever they please. I can’t understand them so it is not harassment; teasing maybe. As for what they could be saying being hate speech, well, I am not really crazy about most of the hate speech laws.

Yes, I think English should be the national language and government should not waste time and money on “English press one. Spanish press two”. If private business want to do that as a marketing strategy, fine. But this IS America and I and anyone else should be able to speak whatever gibberish they are so inclined. For that matter I don’t care if someone talks about me in my presence in English!

      • NotAMolly says:

Kevin conveniently comes up with all these “friends” who are dramatically impacted by the issues at hand bless his heart.

      • emmajeri1010 says:

hmmmmmm…..why does he get to choose certain groups to be sarcastic and bullying toward, but anyone else who does that earns the Wrath of Kevin? Even if he didn’t actually do what he describes, even thinking that’s funny (to call people names in their presence, assuming they don’t understand you) isn’t funny. It’s not nice. It’s vicious.

      • Richdet says:

Celestial Dreamer, I would say KdJ tends to appropriate elements of other people’s lives and works them into his ongoing personal mythology. Take his repeated claim that his greatest sorrow is that he never got to become a Marine — I believe he resurrected that one in a posting just this weekend. He seems especially fond of it.

Trouble is, that claim is simply a recycling of an unlikely tale told by his BFF Hillary Clinton — as First Lady she once claimed that she dropped by a recruiting station in Arkansas in 1975 with the hope of joining the Marines. (Nearly 28 at the time she sets her tale, already with a law career well underway, and about to marry Bill Clinton — that’s why she was in Arkansas.)

Sure she did. And if anyone is buying that story — or Kevin’s knockoff — I got a special Cyber Monday deal on a quaint New England bridge just for you.

wow…would they hear a loud roar from a ton of parents in Osceola if that happened in our school. Now, I can sort of understand the Santa thing…but even my sister’s kids who never believed in Santa (strong Christian belief and my bro-in-law didn’t want to give credit for the hard earned money for the toys he got for them. Ha), never were offended by seeing Santa in decorations or anything. But it looks to me that this was just a poorly worded memo.

      • g8rmom7 says:

I should add re: Santa, in elementary school it’s kind of difficult because of the age differences and the whole “belief” thing…the Kindergartners through about 2nd or 3rd grade are fully on board. But then the older kids start to figure things out and take quite a bit of joy of ruining it for the younger ones. I can understand an elementary school sort of keeping that subject out of school, just for the hassle of it all.

      • TNWAHM says:

While I’m one of those parents who doesn’t believe in teaching kids to believe in Santa ~my kids know who Santa really is~ it doesn’t offend me to see him around and we still watch Rudolph. I just see it as another opportunity to teach my kids the real meaning of Christmas and what we believe as a family. They also know NEVER to spoil another kid’s belief in Santa.

  13. My favorite Christmas video. Cracks me up every time, but I don’t think I’d like to be that guy’s neighbor! And, as a pianist, I am TOTALLY impressed with whoever is on the keyboard.

Of LUNGS, of course. What did you think I meant?

So it appears I must take up Doody Duties and get it cleaned up before my husband gets back from CA (even if it was his idea to keep the dog out there at night). I’ll bet you people in warmer climes don’t have an official”diarrhea softener” in YOUR families! >8-(

            • I don’t know what the song was before it “morphed.” I have a son who’s really big into music; he could probably tell me, if you’re curious. I do know that Trans-Siberian Orchestra has done some very distinctive treatments of other classical composers (think Mozart), so it’s certainly possible.

        • Kristi says:

There is an “embedded” code on you tube videos..
          they are really long.

If you post that code… the video appears instead of a link.

          • NeeNee says:

I know it takes up space, but
I, for one, appreciate the actual video
smacked up there. Many times a link
doesn’t really work, while videos seem
to work almost all the time. Also I’m
more inclined to watch if the screen grab

is already there—most will pique my
interest when sometimes I just don’t want
to do the extra step of opening a link. Yeah,
            I know . . . pretty lazy, huh?

Compared to other sites, this one has
chosen type-size in an age-60+ user-friendly bigger print. That also enlarges the space videos take up. I just went in to “View” on the toolbar and reset for 75%. Then these videos don’t seem so King-Kongish, while still leaving typesize fairly large.

            Just my solution . . .

          • AliRose says:

I like the videos better than links also. However, for some reason, YouTube has been working backwords lately. I think it’s probably a change in WordPress. But…if you post the link, it embeds. If you post the embed code, you get the link. Strange.

      • If you end your comment with a youtube link, WordPress embeds the video automatically.

If you don’t want it to do that, simply put some additional text in your comment after the link, and it will not embed the video in your comment.

      • wendy ann says:

There was something raw about her patriotism, something blunt about her honesty, and something fierce in the seemingly casual way she talked about having taken on ‘the good old boys.’”

Back in 1986, some superwise, self-appointed very important people in a thriving church we were part of decided it was time to advance things, using their vast intelligence and superwisdom. (Snark there: think self-appointed, self-centered, self-important, just-attended-a-4-day-conference-and-now-have-all-the-answers people)….well, they had the influence and power levers to get the very long time pastor fired, who had built the congregation from 17 people to around a thousand. Because I was a key person on the piano and in women’s ministries, some of the key self-important, etc. people came to me to, obviously, appeal to me to “stay the course.” I remember the ice cold rage quietly flowing through my thoughts as they tried to frame everything according to their intentions and make me see “how important I was” to the ongoing work. After they finished their blather, I just quietly said to them: “You know, it’s obvious that you have the technical authority to do what you have done. We can’t stop you. So you have a lot of power that way. However, what you do not have is the power to control people’s thoughts. People will keep thinking. And then people will start walking.” Within 6 months, the very people who came to me acting all important had also been fired. So had the layer below them. (All fired by the same gang.) It was only a few years until that church shut down. They destroyed themselves.

By the mercy of God and using the information flow we have today, yes indeedy, “karma” is going to be delivering a whole LOT of political concussions and nationally televised compound fractures to self-important, self-assigned very important people over the next few years. Including a few really stupid Republicans who, as I understand it, are screwing up on energy votes. Sorry I can’t reference it. Read it earlier and wasn’t thinking about it when I started this comment.

Former governor Palin is down-to-earth and astute. There was nothing self-interested or narcissistic in her tone. She was optimistic about possibilities, but realistic about dangers. There was a warmth that shone through when she talked about her family; that same warmth was apparent when she spoke of America’s founding principles. There was an honest frustration in her voice with respect to “policies coming out of Washington, DC that punish the producers and don’t let the job creators do what they do best.” And there was an underlying toughness – a hearty durability – that made her thoughts grounded and stalwart. That toughness leapt forward boldly when it was time to defend how America should “be a light for others who seek to exercise their God-given rights and liberties.”

I have been doing the obligatory Thanksgiving weekend here but have managed to peek in from time to time. I also read two books over the long weekend, Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s Infidel, and Wafa Sultan’s A God Who Hates.
Great reads both of them and very educational. Personally I liked Infidel better as it was a more personal account of the moral and culturally instituted immorality and hatred towards all unbelievers that Islam creates and continues to perpetuate. I would reccomend these books to any one seeking to further their knowledge of Islam and Muslim culture. The more I read and understand this sytem of belief the more I am horrified as a woman, a mother and of course a proud American citizen.

This is perfect since I just got word my friend opened his eyes after being in a coma for two weeks . . .

It’s also something I wanted to share relative to all the doom and gloom that we know the left is trying to do to us, in so many ways . . .

And, I would wait to bring this smile on your faces for another day, because Frankley already succeeded in posting two wonderful links, but I would lose it by then so Here:

You all need to watch this civil rebellion for Christ.

For anyone who is following the White House “Insider”. I still have no idea if this is legit or not (read at your own risk), but it makes for entertaining reading:

Time will tell. In the meantime, it strikes me as reflecting reality. I don’t put any weight on it, but have yet to see it strike out.

    • Bijou says:

Patriot Dreamer, I was going to post that myself, so Thanks!
I believe that the source is legit and that this excerpt is true. The way he fleshes out certain details dovetails perfectly with previous articles I’ve read on this.
i.e. the media got Zero elected.
I’m looking forward to the next ‘installment’ in which Deep Throat says he’ll talk about efforts already underway to throw the 2012 election. They will try to select the weakest candidate (again) for BO or ? to run against.

The scary thing is that the forces that be in the GOP, plus people like Rove, are too stupid to see what they’re up to.

…..”Despite the establishment media presiding over another mass hoax in claiming that Americans were completely happy with invasive airport security measures, contrary to polls showing a majority in opposition, and that the national opt out day was a failure, the fact that the TSA was forced to change its policy by mothballing naked body scanners and curtailing aggressive pat downs clearly goes to show that the man who almost single-handedly drove the issue, Matt Drudge, fought the TSA and he won…..”

  26. WOO HOO! First place I check in the morning and the last place I check as I shut down for the night…… Thanks Mr. Drudge!!!

This is the piece I referenced earlier about RINO’s and energy issues….from HUMAN EVENTS today:

Upton’s Shocking Votes on Energy-Related Bills
    by Connie Hair 11/29/2010

“This week marks the beginning of the end of the long national nightmare known as the 111th Congress. Republicans were given a second chance—by default—through a national effort to stop the destructive Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda.

“House Republicans are poised to begin making the same kind of business-as-usual mistakes that relegated the party to minority status in 2006. The most glaring example is the looming threat of having Rep. Fred Upton (RINO-Mich.) become chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, despite his liberal voting record, simply because he’s next in line. ”

These first two paragraphs give the gist of the point…the rest of the article details it.

      Glad you found us AliRose….

sundance….you’re having way too much fun with the graphics today!

    • AliRose says:

It’s good to be here. Apparently, some over HB (I won’t mention names) thought I had been here for a while (I wish!). I was accused of participating in saying mean things about Kev and fellow HBers and “pretending” to be loyal to HB at the same time.

I don’t mean to drag up old $h!t. I basically said everything I wanted to say at the time, both in comments and private e-mails. I’ve never been fake there and don’t intend to be here. I’ve been posting at HB, but it hasn’t been the same w/out all of you. I hope the fact that you found me means that, perhaps, LSTF has made it here, too? I haven’t been able to read through all of the comments yet, but I saw her name mentioned in an earlier thread alongside mine.

I had no idea where you all had gone, so I’m glad you found me. I see that I have a lot of catching up to do. I’m sure you’re all in bed by now! I’ll check back in the morning.

      • emmajeri1010 says:

AliRose, I think LSTF is one of the outstanding wanderers that everyone is still looking for. So glad you found the camp!

Only a severe left wing progressive could use their “logic” and look upon this ridiculous Smithsonian Holiday Christmas exhibit as “A.R.T”

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/smithsonian-christmas-season-exhibit-fea

This is OUR tax dollars at work folks.

    • emmajeri1010 says:

And apparently there are enough sick progressives in significant positions of authority to allow this to flourish. Your goofy graphics today are more expressive as art that this crap is. Isn’t it amazing that they glory in the things that we would have had our mouths washed out with soap~~if we had been caught talking about them.

      Who’s going to STOP THEM?

      Thanks for linking this.

Greta’s show tonight is about Palin and Franklin Graham in Haiti.

I guess Libs are saying Fox sent a huge crew to follow Palin around when it was just Greta and one camera guy. They both filmed. haha

    • AFinch says:

I love Greta. One of the photos I saw from the trip showed her carrying her own equipment and conducting an interview. She is the real deal.

    • AFinch says:

Hey–what are you doing over here? I just replied to your post, without looking to see where you posted.

      • Kristi says:

Hahaha… I dont know what day it is.

Funny thing is.. I scrolled up a few posts and thought “these things happened awhile ago….”
